Just minutes east of Albuquerque on Interstate 40 lies the Village of Tijeras, the gateway to the East Mountains. Part of the famous Route 66, Tijeras spans a broad area on both the north and south sides of I-40. It is comprised of both an incorporated village, with its own government, and vast unincorporated areas. You’ll find within its boundaries a great community center, a public library, a post office, shopping, an elementary and a middle school (both part of the Albuquerque Public School system), churches, and the only two traffic lights in the East Mountain area! It is top in convenience to Albuquerque, and offers neighborhood living in communities such as Sandia Mountain Ranch, Dennis Chavez Estates, Tablazon, Richland Estates, and The Woodlands.
